As Dullstroom lies on the eastern escarpment in Mpumalanga it is one of the highest towns in the province at an altitude of 2100m. The climate is therefore cool and fast changing and the tourist will often experience the four seasons in a day. The town lies in a summer rainfall area and so winter rains are unusual but not impossible. Average minimum summer temperatures are 9°C with average maximums at 21°C. In winter average minimum temperatures are 3°C with average maximums at 14°C, with frost being common and snow irregular.
